Flamenco Master Class and Bata de Cola in San Diego with Cihtli Ocampo

Cihtli Ocampo
Cihtli Ocampo from Arte y Pureza will be in San Diego at the end of March to teach her Master Class and Bata de Cola workshop at a new location, the Dance Place studios in Liberty Station.

In addition to her regular technique class, which is always a great class clean up your technique, Cihtli will be offering a Bata de Cola class.  For anyone who has ever wanted to learn Bata Technique this is the class to be in!  Cihtli will begin the class with a 30 minutes of technique without the bata in order to ensure proper technique and placement of legs under the skirt.  Students then wear their batas and she leads the class through a series of drills designed to teach students to manage the skirt with grace, elegance, lightness and personal style.  For the final 30 minutes  of class, Cihtli will work on Alegrias with the bata.  The use of the bata is fundamental in any female dancer's repertoire. The bata de cola is the key to long, fluid, graceful arms and a grounded torso. In this class students will explore turns, the use of the bata in footwork, marking with the bata, using the bata in the air and on the ground, and the adaptation of compas when dancing with the bata.
